A great idea with MDS

My wonderful daughter in law ( or daughter from another mother as I prefer to think of my children's spouses!) Mel has used MDS in a most creative way. Mel is facing the challenge of getting a baby to happily go to bed in the evening and as a strategy has designed a little book on MDS that is all about this. Mel or our son Matthew read this little book to her every night as part of the evening ritual and she just loves to see pictures of herself and is quite engrossed in looking through her book. Have a look at it ......

Stay tuned whether this helps Naomi go down at night!

And what a great idea for a quick scrapbook of each stage in a child's life.

Baby shower and anniversaries

I used MDS to make this quick baby shower card. I think I should have printed the matted image and sentiment a second time and attached it with dimensionals to get away from the flattish look I think it has. I did attach a strip of edged contrast with dimensionals which helped a little.

This card is for my eldest son Matthew and his wife Mel. It's hard to believe they have been married 5 years in December. For this card I chose Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush and Whisper White. I made the card 12.5cm square and used some of the strip left over from the A4 cardstock as the front panel on which I embossed the oval from Designer Frames. I then matted with this with Bermuda Bay card. I thought it needed a strip of Strawberry Slush under it to reinforce the butterflies.
I used the Stampin' Up Beautiful Wings embossilit die with Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush and vellum. These were finished off with some pearls.
I did the sentiment on MDS and cut it out with the oval punch and placed it in the designer frame. The design was influenced by Conroy's Corner on Etsy.

And of course I had to do a matching envelope!

Baptism card

I find baby baptism cards difficult to make. As a Christian I believe baptism is special and not just a naming ceremony as the vows the parents make affirm their promise to bring the child up as part of God's family.

I like to make the card for the child rather than the parents as what we are really doing with infant baptism is making a sign that we welcome the child into the family of God. Whether the child decides later to take this up or not is obviously up to them.

This card is for Alexander who is the precious baby of one of the young couples at our church. His Dad John is also getting baptised next Sunday.

Seeing it was a special card ( and a non standard size) I made the envelope to go with it. I couldn't match the liner as I made the card some time ago but it is the same colour so I think it still goes well. Love that Envelope punch!
