It's hard to see from this photo but the front of the card is actually vellum which has been embossed with the Beautiful Baroque embossing folder. I really like Stampin' Up vellum cardstock as it seems to have more body than a lot of vellum I have used in the past. I spent the day seeing what different looks I could achieve with it.
I can't take the credit for this design as there are many examples of using the 2 dies together on the net. The opening is cut with the Window Frame thinlit die and a piece cut with the Lattice die is positioned underneath the opening . Looks very elegant doesn't it?
This is vellum and gold metallic cardstock on a mat and base of white cardstock. I just love the white/ white or cream / cream look for an elegant card. I think it looks a lot more special than matting the front with a contrast colour. The gold is the Stampin Up Brushed gold which I love as it is not brassy like most gold cardstock you buy elsewhere. I simply embossed the vellum in gold using the Distressed Dots background stamp and was surprised how well the vellum stood up to the heating. The banner was cut in Whisper White matted withe gold and the little flowers were made with the Boho Blossom punch.
The top section is vellum embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder. I embossed the sentiment in gold, matted it in a scallop of gold and finished it off with the new watercolour washi tape from the Occasions catalogue.
I saw something similar on the net but can't remember where. They had used a hero arts stamp for the flower but I thought I could emulate it by punching 3 flowers from some vellum I had embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. The punches used were the Blossom punch, the Pansy punch and the Petite Petals punch. To get the pale pink colour I coloured the flower on the back with a Pink Pirouette marker. I like the stained glass look is gives. I finished off the flower by highlighting around the edges of the three layers with the white chalk pen. The leaves are from the Secret Garden dies collection.
Same technique on the flower. This time I used Crisp Canteloupe and Early Expresso as the colours to contrast with the Crumb Cake card base.
Another window card. This time I used Natural White cardstock and filter paper to make he flowers. Such a delicate look.
A male card. I used vellum for the sentiment and hid the adhesive under the stick on brads. The stamp is from the free Petals Parade stamp set from Sale-a-Bration.
