Christmas Collectibles

I have been using the Christmas Collectibles stamp set and Ornament punch a lot. It certainly makes Christmas cards a quick process. Most of the following cards were the result of fiddling with different papers and colours and seeing how they looked using this set. The above card was cut at 10.5cm wide and I used it on the side. I embossed the edge with one of the designs from the Delicate Designs folder and added a strip of DSP from the Winter Frost collection. I coloured the ornaments using 2 Stampin' Up markers- Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay. Don't forget to huff on the stamp before stamping with this technique. The sentiment is from the Joyful Christmas set. I used a silver gel pen for the string.

I inked up about 8 ornaments at the same time with a Cherry Cobbler and a Old Olive marker using the same technique as above. I couldn't stop as I kept thinking just one more....I made sure the line between the 2 colours wasn't too exact so the 2 colours merged a little which gave it a slight watercolour effect. I mounted this on a soft suede mat which had been embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder. I tied a piece of Cherry Cobbler seam binding around it using just a flat knot. I read somewhere that if you are intending to post a card to make sure it will fit through the gap in the Stampin' Up Paper Trimmer because if it is thicker than this it may get chewed up in the mail. Now I wonder if half my previous 3 years of Christmas cards never reached their destinations as mine were often thicker than that!

This was cased from one of my favourite Stampin' Up ladies - Mary Fish. Have a look at her blog at stampinpretty.com
I used the ornaments described above. I cut the card base using the Stampin' Up Circles collection framelit scalloped die. Fold a piece of card stock in half and then place the die off the fold so one edge doesn't cut through and this is the 'hinge' of the card. Next cut a white circle to fit inside the card with enough to show a border.
I stamped the sentiment again using Joyful Christmas and used the new silver ribbon as the string and bow.
Next step is to make a non standard envelope with the new Envelope punch. Looking forward to playing with this new tool. I have been trying to discipline myself to use all the other things first!

This is my favourite. It's such a simple one layer card. It needed something in the corner so I scored it with the Simply Scored tool. This will definitely be one of my Christmas workshop cards as it includes a few different techniques for newbies.

I just love the blues in the Winter Frost DSP collection. The Island Indigo goes great with it.

Combine it with washi tape for a simple card.

In this one I used the Winter Frost DSP again but it looked a little too bare so I added a strip of white cardstock at the top which I had embossed with one of the folders in the Needlpoint Border embossing folder set. Just loving the new Smokey Slate cardstock. It is such a subtle, elegant colour.
If I can help anyone with Stampin' Up products hop over to the online shop on the top of the blog or drop me an email. Hope you are getting the chance to be creative!

Washi Wonders

What a quick way to make a card. Love this new range of Christmas Washi tape called Seasons of Style. Simply apply each strip to where you want it and voila! The sentiment is from the Warmth and Wonder stamp set and the ornament is from Christmas Collectibles.

In this one I applied the tape to a square of Whisper White cardstock and then using the Stampin' Trimmer cut a tree shape. I made the bucket from some brown card.

There were bits left over from the large Christmas tree so I trimmed them into small trees and attached them over the new lovely Cherry Cobbler 1" Stitched edge Grosgrain Ribbon. I then topped them off with yellow stars.

Another variation of Washi tape application. The sentiment is from the Joyful Christmas stamp set.

One last variation and I must stop playing with the Washi tape!

Winter Frost Creations

Some of these cards were made with the Winter Frost paper stack and some I printed from the Winter Frost DSP which I downloaded onto MDS. The bottom of the card on the left was embossed with the new Stylish Stripes embossing folder and it made a lovely simple border. I love the blue-greens of this Stampin' Up range.

Stampin' Up Whisper White cardstock looks really elegant next to the Island Indigo doesn't it? The background was done with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder, embossed once and then turned the opposite way and embossed again, resulting in a crossed pattern. The rosette was made with the Stampin' Up Designer Rosette die and topped with a clay blossom.

The Stampin' Up Christmas Collectibles set is a quick way to make a card especially if you use the matching Christmas Ornament punch.

The sentiment again was printed using MDS and cut out. The paper is from the Winter Frost paper stack and the silver ribbon is 1/8 inch ribbon from the Holiday catalogue.

This card is one of my favourites. It uses the Stylish Stripes embossing folder. I cut strips of DSP and cardstock the size of the gap and alternated this with some more silver ribbon. I used the same MDS sentiment on this card as above.

The new Smokey Slate goes beautifully with the new Coastal Cabana. I am using a lot of tone on tone this season ie. mounting a Matt onto the same colour card.

This one uses scraps of the leftover DSP and has some scored lines using Stampin' Up's Simply Scored tool. The sentiment again was printed from MDS and mounted onto the card front. These last three cards look best cut from an A4 sheet of card longways instead of across.

Hope everyone is getting into some Christmas card making by now! October is nearly over and November will race by.

Stop by the online store on my blog if you would like something you see here. Cheers!
