Catching up cards

 

I seems funny when I have made hundreds of cards this year I still have special cards I need to send that I haven't made.

This is one such card. My darling grand daughter was born last January and it isn't as if I forgot to make and send a card but more that I wanted it to be super special like her. I just couldn't decide on a design until finally last week I just sat down and made this.

Well it's not as special as she is and it is not profound but hey if I don't give her something soon I will be giving it to her on her 21st!

I used Naturals Ivory cardstock with a layer of the same embossed with the Mosaic embossing folder. I love this folder (even though mine is now in 2 bits due to me trimming it so it fits through the Bigshot on the front of a card- normally not a problem trimming it until you trim the folded end!)

I used an old piece of lace with some apricot ribbon threaded through it. I scored 3 lines at the bottom and finished the lace with some pearls.

I typed the sentiment on MDS and used the ovals collection to cut it out, matting it with a bigger oval in gold. I finished it all off with a clay blossom coloured with a light marker.

 

 

Some close friends of our son Ashley were married a couple of weeks ago. The colours for the wedding were white and black so I thought I would make the card to match. I designed the front panel on MDS. Love this digital image. I wrote their names under the image.

I decided not to put a Congratulations sentiment on the front to keep it simple. I cut the image using the Stampin' Up Framelits Windows collection of dies and matted this with the next size of die cut in black. This was then matted onto a square piece of card embossed with the Polka Dot folder. A white clay blossom completed the card.

I made a matching envelope to make it special and embossed the flap and lined it with black designer paper.

 

 

Next up tomorrow a couple of anniversary cards I hope.

Envelope Punch

The new Stampin Up envelope punch is wonderful. You can make an envelope to match just about about any size and configuration of card. It's not something you would use for every card but for that special, special card it is so nice to be able to match the envelope liner with some element in the card itself

Or for that odd sized card which is impossible to match with any commercial envelope.

It is super easy to use and just plain old fun! And it is cheap! It would make a lovely Christmas present. ( for youself of course)!

 

 

The lovely Linda Higgins has done a great video on how to use this tool.

 

 

Think of the possibilities for that special wedding card. You can emboss the flap with any of your embossing folders. Just run it through the Big Shot with the flap up. If you want the design to cover the whole flap you will need to look at the size and shape of the envelope.

The liner is the bit that makes the envelope look so special. It is simple to do. For great advice on how to make it with the minimum designer paper check out Mary Fish's video
